Goslings hatched

This is the fourth year the mated pair has claimed our pond at their temporary home and nesting ground. The last couple years they have been unsuccessful in hatching any eggs. Last year a predator got their eggs. The year before last the female goose was attacked. She got away. Unfortunately, that night there was a deep freeze which left the eggs unviable. Their first year they did not attempt a nest.

This year not only did they make a nest and lay their eggs, the female goose was able to diligently sit on the nest as the male stood guard. Here are some pictures of them with their 6 little ones.
