We currently have a brood of 23 very social and interactive hens and 1 rooster.  They have a secure chicken run attached to their coop which allows them continual access to roam freely between the outside and their coop.  They also enjoy scratching on the hillside and foraging for insects and bugs in the bramble on the woods edge and in the field. They enjoy the occasional treat of black oiled sunflower seeds, dog food, or fruit and vegetables.  They especially enjoy apples and pumpkins. Though most of them are too shy to let you pet them, the cutest thing ever is when they see people and come running to greet you.
